A serina tRNA ligase ou seril-tRNA sintetase é uma ligase que catalisa a reação :

Esta enzima fixou a serina , um α-amino proteinogênico ácido em seu RNA de transferência , observou o tRNA de Ser . Ele também pode ligar a serina ao RNA de transferência de selenocisteína . O sec seril-tRNA não é incorporado às proteínas nascentes pelos ribossomos porque não é reconhecido pelos fatores de alongamento celular; por outro lado, é um substrato da selenocisteína sintase , que converte o seril-tRNA Sec em selenocisteinil-tRNA Sec usando selenofosfato SePO 3 3-.
